Next in the celebrations came the Bou Bhaat, which always takes place after the wedding ceremony and is the couple's first meal together, and a chance for the groom's extended family to meet the bride.
This took place at St Bart's Brewery, right next to Smithfield market and, interestingly, was a potential wedding venue for Bill and I. It's a great spot. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle and right opposite the market and a cute little park.
The space itself has a balcony which overlooks the main bar area and it is perfect for private functions.
The couple had a champagne reception for everyone on arrival and by now everyone knew each other pretty well so it was lovely to see heartfelt hugs and kisses between the two families. A typically British lunch was had: soup followed by fish and chips (natch!) and then the father of the groom gave a speech which was both amusing and touching.
A beautiful cake was cut and the families got together for a huge group photo. It was a lovely day. Check out St. Bart's Brewery below...
